Responsibilities
Promote a strong culture of prevention, compliance and continuous improvement in health, safety and the environment
Act as a partner to managers, project teams and employees
Provide specialized advice and respond to requests from internal and external clients or suppliers
Participate in the development of HSE programs
Conduct risk assessments and investigate incidents
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and corporate requirements
Train the team in safe work practices and identify at-risk behaviors
Escalate serious issues when necessary
Contribute to the preparation of reports related to data and analysis
Provide coaching to team members
Supervise and monitor the work of a team, assign work and follow up on its completion
Develop, test and maintain procedures and guidelines
Plan and coordinate product and process testing and inspection activities
Implement and monitor corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
Investigate routine incidents and resolve immediate compliance issues
Advise more experienced colleagues on complex issues
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in science, industrial relations or another field related to the position, or relevant experience
Occupational health and safety certificate
ASP Construction safety card
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation (asset)
5 to 10 years of experience in health and safety, preferably in construction, environmental, chemical and/or consulting services
Experience developing and implementing HSE programs
Experience conducting risk assessments and investigating health, safety and environmental incidents
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of occupational health and safety laws and regulations relevant to the company’s business activities
Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and COR standards (asset)
Strong initiative, versatility, autonomy and professional judgment
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities to meet deadlines
Ability to act with discretion, transparency, courtesy and confidentiality when handling assigned matters
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Excellent command of French
Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams)
Must hold a valid driver’s licence and have access to a vehicle
Must be available to travel within the region as needed (approximately 5%)
