About the role

  • Ingénieur hydrotechnique chez GHD, leader des services professionnels en eau, énergie et urbanisation. Conception, simulation et inspection hydrologique de barrages et infrastructures hydrauliques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrological and hydraulic analyses for the design of hydraulic structures and dams
  • Participate in dam design reviews from a hydrological/hydraulic perspective
  • Conduct dam-break simulations and analyses and prepare flood inundation maps
  • Collaborate with and provide supervision to junior engineers on hydrological analysis and water design
  • Contribute to training and mentoring of junior staff
  • Conduct site visits and prepare statutory inspection reports from a hydrological perspective
  • Contribute to the preparation of plans and specifications for the rehabilitation and construction of hydraulic infrastructure
  • Work in a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment
  • Promote the hydrotechnical discipline to both internal and external clients

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, or a related discipline
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or in the process of becoming registered
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the field
  • Fluent in French, both spoken and written
  • Familiarity with water-related environmental issues and mining regulations
  • Strong knowledge of calculation methods applicable to hydrologic and hydraulic assessments, floodplain analyses, and river flow
  • Proficient in modeling with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, and Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of CADAM 3D and MIKE 21 is an asset
  • Project management experience for the intermediate engineer level
  • Self-directed, proactive, and able to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness and ability to travel short-term for occasional regional travel, inspections, and site visits
  • Experience with dams is a significant asset
  • Prior experience with Hydro-Québec or other hydroelectric sector clients is highly valued
