Junior electrical technologist supporting roadway, bridge, transit, and municipal infrastructure design for GHD. Performing lighting calculations, traffic signal design, and ITS documentation.
Responsibilities
Support the electrical discipline in multidisciplinary projects
Perform lighting, loading, short circuit, voltage drop, and Arc Flash Analysis calculations
Assist with traffic signal, lighting, and intelligent transportation system design
Assist with contract document preparation and quantity take-offs
Deliver assigned tasks on time
Carry out quality checks and comply with internal procedures
Assist senior staff with technical tasks and office operations
Coordinate and liaise with approving authorities, utility companies, and external design team members
Help install complex systems and inspect equipment under guidance
Support project management activities
Support product development and engineering activities, including analyzing client situations and interpreting data
Respond to routine functional inquiries using procedures and precedents
Collect data and produce accurate standard reports
Maintain and repair plant and machinery under supervision
Design a monthly schedule and assign work when necessary
Develop testing standards and procedures under professional direction
Requirements
3-5 years’ experience in the design and/or construction of highway electrical, lighting, Traffic Signals and ITS with an engineering consultant firm
College diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology
Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation environments
Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
Prior experience working on municipal and/or MTO projects are highly desirable
Knowledge of OPS, OESC, CSA, IES, TAC and OTM publications and standards
Self-motivated and quick learner
Able to multitask in a fast pace environment
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
G class driver’s license
