Responsibilities
Provide technical and managerial leadership in hydrotechnical analyses for a variety of projects, including pumped-storage power plants, hydroelectric facilities, and hydraulic stability analyses
Execute dam safety assignments, manage client relationships, and serve as a technical mentor to junior staff
Develop and implement advanced hydrological and hydraulic models
Prepare technical reports, design drawings, and specifications for hydrotechnical and hydraulic works
Lead and oversee the design of major dam and hydroelectric projects, including new construction, upgrades, rehabilitations, and decommissioning
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineering
Develop and maintain relationships with Hydro-Québec and other clients in the hydroelectric, mining, and water sectors
Represent GHD in professional associations, technical committees, and industry conferences
Mentor, supervise, and develop junior engineers and technical staff
Support business development, proposal preparation, and client presentations
Provide specialized advice during tender processes and bid evaluations
Provide design guidance and quality control during construction
Manage multiple projects concurrently while adhering to budgets and schedules
Produce clear and concise reports and presentations for clients
Ensure compliance with GHD's quality, environmental management, and health & safety systems
Requirements
University degree in civil engineering or a related field
Professional engineering designation (ing. or P.Eng.) or eligibility for registration with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
Minimum 10 years of experience in hydroelectric and/or dam engineering, with emphasis on hydroelectric facilities and pumped-storage plants
Proficiency with hydrological and hydraulic modeling software, including HEC-RAS, SWMM, and/or MIKE
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and managing interfaces between hydrotechnical, structural, geotechnical, and mechanical disciplines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English
Recognized technical leadership in hydrotechnical engineering, hydroelectric facilities, dams, and pumped-storage plants
Proven experience developing client relationships, ideally with Hydro-Québec or other hydroelectric clients
Demonstrated experience in project and time management, preparing budgets, work programs, proposals, tenders, technical submissions, and reports
Proven ability to manage project teams in a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment
Ability to mentor and develop junior staff
Practical knowledge of applicable Canadian and Quebec standards, guidelines, and current industry practices
Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written
Willingness to travel within Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, and internationally as project needs require
Compliance with GHD's quality, environmental management, and occupational health and safety systems
Graduate degrees or certifications in hydrotechnical engineering are an asset
