About the role

  • Senior Civil Engineer leading design and delivery of compliant civil infrastructure projects. Managing clients, inspections, project budgets, risks, standards, and tender responses in Vancouver.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, planning, management and delivery of civil engineering projects
  • Deliver technically accurate, compliant, high-quality client-focused solutions across roads, railroads, airports, bridges, dams, water and sewage systems, irrigation systems and power plants
  • Manage relationships with small clients and support senior colleagues managing larger clients
  • Participate in a community of practice to build expertise
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with contract service providers
  • Inspect engineering works and existing installations or structures and specify remedial works
  • Design engineering solutions and validation processes conforming to organizational and regulatory standards
  • Contribute to engineering standards, specifications and compliance analysis
  • Follow HSE policies, identify and mitigate risks, and address risky team behavior
  • Identify process shortcomings and implement improvements
  • Develop capabilities through training, coaching, education and professional accreditation
  • Define and deliver products and services meeting customer needs
  • Deliver small- or medium-scale projects within an established program management plan
  • Prepare proposals and responses to bids, requests for proposals and tenders
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, risk analysis, pricing, client engagement and winning work

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level
  • Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level (over 6 years to 10 years)
  • Experience of general supervision of more junior colleagues (7 to 12 months)
  • Demonstrated technical expertise aligned to professional accreditation standards
  • Ability to independently lead the design, planning, management and delivery of engineering projects
  • Knowledge of civil projects including roads, railroads, airports, bridges, dams, water and sewage systems, irrigation systems and power plants
  • Ability to contribute to feasibility studies, risk analysis, pricing, bids and tenders
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, specifications, regulatory compliance and HSE requirements
  • Advanced engineering design, development, implementation, testing, technical operations and technical practices
  • Advanced engineering data collection, analysis and data management
  • Advanced project cost, budget and schedule management
  • Risk management techniques
  • Engineering software, hardware and methodologies
  • Ability to maintain or gain relevant external professional accreditation
