About the role
- Senior Traffic Engineer delivering transportation planning and traffic engineering projects for GHD Canada. Leading multidisciplinary studies, roadway improvements, traffic analysis, and team development.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver multidisciplinary transportation planning projects
- Manage people and teams
- Contribute to the development of junior staff
- Coordinate work from municipal, structural, and technical support disciplines
- Prepare stakeholder consultation material
- Develop client relationships and new business opportunities
- Undertake research and analysis of land use, demographic, and travel data
- Assist with preparation and analysis of travel forecasts
- Develop and assess alternative road improvements
- Develop preliminary road designs and prepare technical memos, reports, and graphics
- Incorporate transit, pedestrian, transportation demand management, and active transportation strategies into studies
- Provide traffic engineering services for Environmental Assessments and preliminary and detailed roadway projects
- Review and support intersection operations analysis
- Review and complete microsimulation analysis
Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering with 8-12 years of experience in transportation
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.ENG)
- Solid understanding of relevant transportation planning and traffic engineering policies and design standards in Ontario
- Experience with safety audits and collision analysis
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of traffic operational assessment
- Experience with transportation software such as Synchro, Sidra, Vissim, Aimsun and/or other traffic software will be an asset
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of transportation planning
- Experience with macro modelling software will be an asset
- Proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent report and proposal writing skills
- Positive attitude, good communication, and interpersonal skills
- Performs well independently as well as in a team environment
- Valid Driver’s license
