About the role

  • Bilingual HR Advisor for Giant Tiger supporting HR functions in Quebec and Ontario stores. Role includes employee relations, talent management, and conducting investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Franchisees and Store Manager on employee relations matters including performance management, compensation, employee engagement and employee relations
  • Execute business unit visits (changeover and engagement) working collaboratively with business unit to assess engagement and advise on HR Best Practices
  • Conduct discrimination and harassment investigations, providing recommendations and documentation to the business unit
  • Partner with the Manager/Owner on CNESST claims and any litigation and act as a trusted advisor on these matters
  • Where required inform the business unit on labour and employee relations issues to mitigate risk
  • Conduct HR leadership training for business unit on Giant Tiger Talent Development Programs
  • Provide Best advice on Modified work, return to work process and health and safety matters
  • Act as a conduit between the Manager/Owner and the Centres of Excellence to provide appropriate support
  • Complete administrative activities for the business unit and reinforce the self-service model

Requirements

  • Bilingualism English and French is required (expert level, conversational French skills)
  • Post Secondary education in Human Resources or related discipline; or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a HR partner/advisor role
  • Skilled in developing positive working relationships with business leaders
  • 3+ years experience coaching and advising managers
  • Excellent attention to detail with written work
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate in a positive way with internal business units
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate provincial employment law, policies and regulations
  • Relevant experience in conducting ER investigations, including Harassment investigations and supporting MOL & Human Rights claims
  • The successful candidate must be able and willing to travel as required to support business needs.
