Assistant Manager overseeing General Motors’ marketing financial operations, budgeting, reporting, accounting, and procurement. Supporting national and regional retail stakeholders in Oshawa’s hybrid team.
Responsibilities
Support the Financial Operations Manager, National Manager, and VSSM team with GMCC Marketing financial processes for National and Region Retail requirements
Act as a key point of contact for day-to-day financial tasks, transactions, reporting, analytics, and month/year-end activities
Develop and implement financial models and solutions to maximize marketing budget utilization within GMCC rules
Participate in process improvement development and ad hoc business analysis, audits, and vendor/stakeholder budget oversight
Gather and review budget control reports from multiple teams for analysis and monthly transactions
Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual budget reports and forecasts for stakeholders and departments in multiple currencies/templates
Develop reporting and dashboards for stakeholders and leaders
Reconcile and balance accounts; prepare, review, and post journal vouchers
Oversee estimate and invoice processing, provide guidance on account numbers and budget selection, and reconcile marketing database information with budget reports
Act as backup for purchase order creation and create manual debit and credit invoices as required
Audit invoices, purchase requisitions, and advertising estimates
Support vendor and agency relationship management, including contracts, renewals, issue resolution, and special assignments
Liaise with purchasing, tax, RTR/RTP, and accounts payable teams to resolve procurement, tax, system, and migration issues
Support advertising agencies of record with finances and budgets
Coordinate onboarding, training, invoice issue resolution, escalations, and budget reconciliation for stakeholders
Host budget meetings and calls to help partners stay within budget
Assist stakeholders, managers, and agencies with end-to-end procurement and sourcing documentation
Requirements
2–5 years of relevant financial operations experience in marketing or advertising
Successful completion of a degree in Business, Economics, Math, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Knowledge and understanding of finance and accounting
Proficiency with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Other database knowledge is an asset
Preferred experience with SAP, Ariba, Fiori, FINCORE, or similar systems
Reasonable understanding of Canadian taxes at an operational purchasing level
Presentation skills
Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
Ability to make decisions given limited or conflicting information
Ability to process high volumes of data and meet deadlines
High degree of written communication skills
Flexibility to work evenings/additional hours during month-end
Desire to learn and find process efficiencies
Ability to host meetings and lead discussions
CPA/CFA designation is not required
Must not require GM immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future
