About the role

  • Civil Engineer supporting GOLDBECK SOLAR’s utility-scale solar PV and battery storage projects. Coordinating design, construction engineering, inspections, estimating, and business-development proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage engineering consultants and their permitting, design, calculations, and material take-off deliverables
  • Review civil, structural, and mechanical engineering designs, drawings, documentation, geotechnical reports, and piling studies
  • Support foundation type, stick-up height, tracker configuration, constructability, and subcontracting decisions
  • Review and validate material take-offs, procurement requirements, shop drawings, and subcontractor bids
  • Oversee or perform cut/fill site analysis and optimization
  • Conduct site visits and inspections covering environmental and erosion control compliance, surveying, piling coordination, and installation quality assurance
  • Prepare and manage submittals, transmittals, RFIs, and project documentation
  • Provide technical support during construction, including drawing reviews, constructability input, survey coordination, and issue resolution
  • Assist with qualification, selection, and management of subconsultants and suppliers
  • Coordinate surveying activities using field equipment such as Trimble systems
  • Track progress, prepare daily plans and reports, and assist with construction coordination
  • Develop quality control, commissioning, and inspection processes, including installation manuals, QC documentation, and site reporting
  • Review RFPs and provide technical and cost input for civil, structural, mechanical, and constructability scopes
  • Develop material take-offs, cost estimates, and supplier quotations for proposals
  • Collaborate with procurement, suppliers, and construction teams on competitive proposals
  • Contribute to standardization and continuous improvement of engineering designs, reporting processes, and cost structures

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA as an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or P.Eng.
  • 4–7 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in renewable energy or infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with solar PV systems, piling methodology, and construction practices is an asset
  • Experience with CAD, surveying tools, or engineering software
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage shifting priorities across multiple sites
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel to project sites in Canada and the USA
