About the role

  • Business Application Analyst supporting the City of Hamilton’s municipal ERP, financial applications, and HRMS systems. Maintaining security, workflows, reporting, upgrades, and user support.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain security for the ERP and AP Automation systems
  • Provide functional support for the ERP and HRMS Payroll/Pension Benefit system to core users
  • Administer ERP and AP Automation system security and workflows
  • Assist with implementation of new modules and functionality
  • Participate in system fit/gap analysis, document findings, prioritize requirements and recommend project scope
  • Liaise with Public Works, Long Term Care facilities, Police, Transit and Hamilton Public Library stakeholders
  • Assist with ERP application upgrades, tax updates and maintenance
  • Assist with training accounts receivable, general ledger, accounts payable, purchase order and HRMS Payroll Time Entry users
  • Provide information queries and reports related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchase orders, general ledger, employee earnings and taxation
  • Provide product-level support to management, key users, external interface support staff and technical staff
  • Support special projects involving system changes, new features and automated processes
  • Keep abreast of new technology and its impact on business applications
  • Perform other directly related duties as assigned
  • Report to the Manager, Business Applications, Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

Requirements

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, or a combination of education and relevant work-related experience
  • Experience working with Financial Management and Financial Supply Chain system modules
  • Experience working in a Financial Services department, preferably in a municipal environment
  • Must maintain confidentiality of information accessed through the ERP and HRMS Payroll/Pension Benefit system
  • Knowledge of payroll, pension benefits, accounts receivable, purchase orders, accounts payable, general ledger and budget modules
  • Experience with FTP programs, interfaces, relational databases, networking and web technologies
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft technical tools: Application Engine, Security Administration, Process Scheduler, Query Manager, Report Manager, SQR, Application Designer, Query Analyzer and nVision
  • Familiarity with a computerized accounting environment
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and database software programs
  • Highly developed analytical, technical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough working knowledge of project management principles and techniques
  • Ability to handle multiple changing priorities
  • Excellent presentation, report-writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with City staff, external consultants and suppliers
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
