About the role

  • Director of Finance leading FP&A, forecasting and cash management at RouteThis, which builds AI-powered connectivity support for ISPs and smart-home companies. Partnering with executives and the board through its SaaS-to-AI transition.

Responsibilities

  • Lead RouteThis's finance function through its transition from a SaaS business to an AI-native business
  • Build and maintain the live weekly forecast across ARR by product line, expenses and cash
  • Lead the annual budgeting process
  • Act as a thought partner to the COO and CEO in strategy and business planning
  • Own the monthly and quarterly close, including the SaaS versus AI revenue and P&L split
  • Prepare board and investor materials in partnership with the COO
  • Manage runway, covenants, accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections and foreign exchange exposure
  • Lead the Financial Controller day to day
  • Design internal finance rhythms for collections, spending approvals and forecasting cadence
  • Support audit readiness, insurance review and internal controls
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success and Professional Services on unit economics and pricing model support
  • Use AI and modern finance tools to improve team efficiency and finance operations

Requirements

  • CPA, CA or CMA designation
  • Seven or more years of progressive finance experience, with meaningful time in FP&A rather than primarily a controllership or close-focused track
  • Experience in a SaaS or subscription business
  • Exposure to more than one revenue model, or to usage-based revenue recognition, is a strong asset
  • Experience preparing board and investor materials and cash forecasts in close partnership with a CEO, COO or CFO
  • Fluency building live, rolling financial models
  • Comfort operating without a CFO in place and taking ownership of a newly built model and process
  • Hands-on, practical approach, with comfort in detail and leadership conversations
  • Comfort with AI tools and an interest in using them more
  • Clear, confident communication with the CEO, COO and board
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Comfortable commuting to the Kitchener office on a hybrid basis (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
