Responsibilities
Lead the human resources function and ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
Serve as a strategic HR partner to facility leadership.
Execute workforce plans aligned with operational goals.
Lead succession planning and talent-pipeline development.
Coordinate training, development programs, apprenticeships, and upskilling.
Coach facility managers and supervisors on people leadership.
Resolve escalated employee concerns and grievances.
Drive employee engagement, retention, recognition, and work-life balance initiatives.
Partner with GBS Recruiting and oversee full-cycle recruitment and onboarding.
Align recruiting with internal posting and seniority-based bidding processes.
Lead performance appraisals, goal setting, evaluations, feedback, improvement plans, and progressive discipline.
Ensure payroll accuracy and oversee benefits and leave administration.
Optimize HR systems and sponsor recognition programs.
Align HR strategy with facility goals and lead organizational development.
Analyze workforce trends and report executive insights on HR KPIs.
Champion change, organizational transitions, and continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with ESA, OHSA, MOL, WSIB, employment laws, HR policies, and data-protection requirements.
Serve as primary union contact for grievances, negotiations, and labour disputes.
Lead collective bargaining, including cost analyses and contract proposals.
Investigate workplace disputes, discipline, and grievances.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent professional experience accepted; Master’s degree preferred.
7+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
At least 2 years of experience in a unionized setting, if applicable.
Experience in collective bargaining, workforce planning, HR compliance, and talent management.
Strong knowledge of labour laws, including NLRA, FLSA, OSHA, FMLA, and ADA, and CBA interpretation where applicable.
Experience managing union negotiations, grievance handling, and employee relations where applicable.
Proficiency in HRIS systems, timekeeping software such as Success Factors and UKG/UltiPro, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to analyze HR metrics and drive process improvements.
English required; additional language skills are a plus.
Strategic HR mindset and knowledge of HR best practices and operational efficiency.
Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing settings and balance priorities.
Data-driven problem-solving approach.
Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and communication skills.
Minimal travel, less than 10%.
