About the role
- Legal Counsel advising iA Financial Group’s Canadian automotive insurance and warranty businesses. Supporting regulatory analysis, commercial agreements, and product development.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to partners across various business areas
- Conduct legal and regulatory analyses, particularly in insurance and consumer protection
- Provide clear, practical recommendations aligned with business needs
- Support implementation of legislative and regulatory changes
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements
- Contribute to development and enhancement of insurance products, warranties, and services
- Collaborate with business and multidisciplinary teams, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Participate in working groups and industry committees
- Contribute to continuous improvement and organizational transformation initiatives
Requirements
- Holds a university degree in law
- Is a member of the Barreau du Québec
- Has five or more years of relevant legal experience
- Demonstrates strong business acumen and ability to turn complex legal matters into practical solutions
- Shows intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and sound judgment
- Has excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly
- Takes a collaborative, proactive, and solution-oriented approach while managing multiple priorities
- Ideally has experience in commercial and contract law, as well as knowledge of insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated industry
- Has an intermediate level of English proficiency
- Requires frequent oral and written communication across Canada and collaboration with unilingual English-speaking colleagues
