About the role
- Senior Accountant overseeing financial close, reporting, tax filings, and audits for Innergex, an independent renewable energy producer. Improving accounting processes and systems while supporting budgeting and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
- Ensure the quality of financial data produced
- Review and approve journal entries prepared by the accounting team
- Oversee reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
- Oversee preparation of sales tax returns and annual tax filings
- Oversee preparation of periodic financial statements
- Participate in external audits by coordinating and ensuring the quality of required documentation
- Contribute expertise to budgeting and conduct financial analyses supporting decision-making and operational performance
- Contribute to special projects and optimize month-end closing processes and accounting practices
- Collaborate with information technology teams to enhance financial systems and management tools
- Support the reliability of financial information, accounting operations, financial controls, and business objectives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA certification
- At least eight (8) years of experience in financial accounting
- Ability to identify optimization opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to thrive in a growing and changing environment
- Good organizational skills and independence
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent proficiency in Excel
- Familiarity with financial systems and ERP systems
- Experience with Oracle Fusion, OneStream, or similar platforms is a plus
- Bilingualism in French and English, written and spoken, is required
- Experience working at a publicly traded company or knowledge of U.S. GAAP is a plus
- Position based at the company's head office in Longueuil, Quebec
