About the role

  • Actuarial Analyst intern supporting Intact’s insurance pricing, reserves, portfolio profitability, and catastrophe analysis. Collaborating across underwriting, finance, risk management, and marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Marketing, Risk Management, and Finance on analytical and decision-making assignments
  • Participate in development projects
  • Share learnings, methods, results, and recommendations with colleagues and stakeholders, including senior leadership, through summaries and presentations
  • Monitor profitability and competitiveness of insurance portfolios
  • Contribute to preparing action plans for coming years
  • Assess the impact of geopolitical context, climate change, and other emerging trends on frequency, severity, and risk profile
  • Apply actuarial techniques to support adequate reserves, appropriate reinsurance, and sufficient capital under catastrophe scenarios
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives involving machine learning, customer experience, telematics, and climate change
  • Analyze and improve pricing models in personal and commercial insurance

Requirements

  • Ongoing university studies in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Intelligence, or a related discipline
  • Interest in IT, technology, and innovation (an asset)
  • Strong adaptability, teamwork, autonomy, and sense of accountability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical and synthesizing skills
  • Bilingualism (French and English) required to interact regularly with colleagues across Canada
  • Must be available 35 hours per week
  • Must be able to come into the office at least two days per week
  • Must be actively enrolled as a student for the entire duration of the internship
  • Resume and most recent university or college transcript required
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada from the anticipated start date and throughout employment
  • Candidates are solely responsible for maintaining work eligibility
