About the role
- Claims Representative I managing mild to moderate Accident Benefits claims for Intact. Ensuring exceptional claims journey and timely investigations in a hybrid work model.
Responsibilities
- Proactively manage a caseload of mild to moderate Accident Benefits claims in an efficient manner and provide an exceptional claims journey for the customer.
- Ensure timely and thorough investigation and adjudication of medical claims.
- Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements which are fair and equitable.
- Communicate in a timely and respectful manner with customers, claimants, legal representatives, and medical clinics to settle claims and report findings and settlements.
- Conduct investigations and identify additional information such as independent medical examinations, and customers' medical or employment history required to clarify and/or justify a claim.
- Collect reports and statements to determine liability and coverage.
- Ensure all cases are clearly documented and meet all legislative requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of insurance experience and minimum one year of customer service experience required
- Hold a valid insurance license / completed C11 or its equivalent
- A university degree or college diploma in Health Sciences (Kinesiology or Psychology) is considered an asset
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and a love for teamwork
- Willing to work towards a Chartered Insurance Professional designation and have the ability to become licensed in all Atlantic provinces
- Strong verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and negotiation skills
- Strong analytical skills; detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage change
- Capable of multitasking and juggling competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Capable of working independently within a collaborative team setting
- Strong time management skills
- Computer literate and capable of working in a paperless environment
- An ongoing commitment to self-development
- Knowledge or understanding of medical terminology is an asset
- Eager to work in a hybrid environment.
- No Canadian work experience required; however, must be eligible to work in Canada.
