About the role
- Senior Solution Architect designing backend services, APIs, and integrations for Intact’s web and mobile insurance platforms. Shaping cloud, security, and enterprise architecture across digital products.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate solution definition within project and product teams
- Participate in product and technology selection
- Develop standards, patterns, standard configurations, roadmaps, and strategies with architects
- Research, evaluate, and select software technology and product standards
- Define metrics demonstrating enterprise technology value
- Manage and develop architecture for a broader scope of projects
- Monitor solution portfolios and identify technology or business-alignment deficiencies
- Contribute to the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio
- Consult with application and infrastructure development projects to align systems and infrastructure with architecture
- Liaise with business teams and technical teams to review solutions
- Define and document application architectures with application architects and product tech leads
- Mentor development teams technically
- Document solution architecture design and analysis work
- Assist with defining business vision and communicating it to stakeholders
- Collaborate with business constituents, enterprise architecture members, project teams, and IT functional areas
- Design and evolve backend enablement services and integrations powering web and mobile applications
- Address high availability, security improvements, AWS migration, solution, application, integration, cloud, and DevSecOps architecture concerns
Requirements
- University degree in information technology, software engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and architecture experience with software architecture, micro/macro/monolithic services, APIs, RESTful, and SaaS
- Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, and Apache Flink
- Cloud architecture experience with AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure
- Knowledge of authentication, OAuth, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, and OWASP standards
- Experience with digital online solutions and mobile applications
- Experience with marketing technologies, including email, SMS, push messaging, CDP, and analytics
- Excellent knowledge of software and enterprise design patterns
- Previous experience as a tech lead, content authority, solution architect, or application architect
- Demonstrated experience with modelling languages and techniques
- Strong technical background in platforms, languages, protocols, frameworks, and open source
- Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF; architecture certifications are a plus
- Knowledge of security best practices
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required to interact with English-speaking colleagues across Canada
- Must be eligible to work in Canada; no Canadian work experience required
- Insurance experience is a strong asset
- Prior experience in agile development, continuous delivery, DevOps culture, and automated cloud service creation
