About the role

  • Maintenance Manager leading maintenance operations, safety, and equipment reliability at JBS Canada's Belleville meat-processing facility. Managing teams, budgets, contractors, and preventive maintenance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the proper maintenance, operation and upkeep of the service centre, external building and grounds, HVAC, refrigeration and all equipment
  • Plan, direct, and schedule daily activities of the maintenance shop and staff
  • Foster a strong culture of health and safety
  • Operate in accordance with CFIA, Health Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada policies, HACCP requirements, and applicable food safety, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, plans, programs, and work assignments
  • Establish, implement, and maintain an effective preventive maintenance program
  • Ensure proper installation, repair, and maintenance of production equipment, building systems, and facility grounds
  • Coordinate and prioritize work schedules for mechanics, millwrights, and maintenance personnel
  • Oversee ordering, purchasing, and inventory control of maintenance parts
  • Coordinate and supervise third-party contractors
  • Review and maintain service records and work reports
  • Ensure reliable and efficient operation of facility equipment and support systems
  • Promote and enforce HACCP, food safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for operational performance, productivity, quality, cost efficiency, and waste reduction
  • Foster positive working relationships with maintenance employees, production teams, and non-union staff
  • Promote employee engagement, teamwork, accountability, and workplace safety
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, provincial legislation, and the Collective Agreement
  • Provide guidance and support regarding workplace expectations and standards
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, and customer-focused approach with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • A degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, and/or possession of Journeyman certification in a related field
  • More than 15 years of progressive related engineering, maintenance and management experience
  • Experience within the manufacturing sector, particularly within the food or meat processing sector
  • Extensive management experience, preferably within a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, labour relations, conflict resolution and communication
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and project management software
