About the role
- Apprentice Millwright maintaining and repairing industrial machinery at JBS Canada's Brooks beef-processing facility. Installing, troubleshooting, and servicing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, and programmable logic control systems
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
- Operate lathes and grinders to fabricate parts during machinery overhaul, maintenance, or setup
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on machinery
- Construct machinery foundations or direct other workers constructing foundations
- Assemble machinery and equipment before installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment
Requirements
- Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
- 2 or more years in a maintenance function, including time spent as a millwright/industrial mechanic apprentice
- Demonstrated experience providing hands-on support to operations, technical, and maintenance work teams
- Must be registered as an Apprentice in Alberta
- Technical strength, good people skills, and good planning
- Basic computer skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Rotating and stationary equipment maintenance experience
- Foundation in preventive and predictive maintenance systems
- RPS/RCM maintenance troubleshooting techniques
- Superior skills within area of expertise
- Must be available for shift work
- Applicants must pass a pre-hire medical and drug and alcohol test as a condition of employment
