About the role

  • 3rd Class Power Engineer operating boilers and ammonia refrigeration for JBS Canada’s beef processing facility in Brooks, Alberta. Maintaining safe, efficient plant operations and reducing energy consumption.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure total care and control of the Boiler Room and associated ancillary equipment
  • Ensure total care and control of a large ammonia refrigerated plant
  • Conduct daily plant inspections of ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems
  • Ensure all systems operate in a safe and efficient manner
  • Record data and all relevant information related to plant operations under the Chief Engineer’s jurisdiction
  • Reduce energy consumption, including gas, electricity, water, and ammonia usage

Requirements

  • Valid ABSA Certified 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial experience
  • Proven team leader and team player
  • Commitment to excellence and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems
  • Knowledge of natural gas-fired steam boiler systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
