About the role

  • Data Engineer owning Jim Peplinski Capital’s fleet-financing data platform. Building pipelines, governance, customer data shares, and the Power BI-to-Superset analytics migration.

Responsibilities

  • Own JPC’s data platform end-to-end, including pipelines, warehouse, customer data shares, governance, and analytics layer
  • Run Snowflake warehouses, RBAC, cost management, and performance as production systems
  • Run Airbyte connector health, sync reliability, schema changes, and incident response
  • Build and operate pipelines from core operational systems and third-party fuel, maintenance, telematics, and internal systems
  • Deliver internal integrations between business systems using the warehouse where appropriate
  • Own secure, correct, and customer-isolated data shares
  • Classify data including PII, conduct access reviews and retention, monitor data quality, and define trusted datasets
  • Serve as the named owner for data questions from customers and vendors
  • Lead the migration from Power BI to Superset, including models, dashboards, access, and adoption
  • Keep production dashboards running and onboard new pipelines smoothly
  • Partner with Product, Operations, Sales, Finance, and Executive teams
  • Teach teams to self-serve data rather than queue behind the data function
  • Use AI tooling to accelerate analysis, pipeline development, and iteration
  • Shape technology choices as the data stack evolves

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a data platform role, with real production ownership
  • Strong Snowflake experience, including administration, RBAC, performance, and cost tuning
  • Expert SQL and comfort modeling business data for analytics
  • Hands-on experience running Airbyte or a comparable ELT tool such as Fivetran or Meltano in production
  • BI platform experience, such as Tableau or Superset, with understanding of semantic modeling
  • Practical data governance experience, including classification, access control, and retention
  • Working fluency with Jira and GitHub
  • Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders, including the Executive team and customers
  • Track record of owning and delivering projects end-to-end
  • Experience with commercial credit or lending analytics, ideally from automotive or financial services background
  • Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks
  • Direct experience with Snowflake data shares
  • Python for pipeline glue and automation
  • Experience integrating AI tools into day-to-day workflow
  • Must be based in Calgary or the Greater Toronto Area
