About the role

  • People Business Partner advising leaders and managing employee relations at Jobber, a technology platform helping small home-service businesses operate. Driving performance, talent, compensation, and lifecycle programs.

Responsibilities

  • Build a people agenda aligned with the group's strategy, structure, and business drivers
  • Advise managers and senior leaders on performance, development, compensation, team structure, and change
  • Coach first-time and early-tenure managers through people-leadership challenges
  • Create reusable guidance and documentation to help managers become self-sufficient
  • Run performance management end to end, including expectations, documentation, improvement plans, difficult conversations, and exits
  • Support talent reviews and compensation cycles, including calibration, leveling, promotions, and succession planning
  • Own the employee lifecycle, including leaves, accommodations, return to work, internal moves, and exits
  • Manage employee relations cases, including ambiguous and legally sensitive matters, with appropriate escalation
  • Assess organizational structures, spans of control, and decision rights
  • Track engagement, performance, and retention indicators; run listening cycles and create action plans
  • Drive people initiatives from design through implementation
  • Use AI for research, drafting, data analysis, and recommendation testing
  • Identify and propose improvements for recurring manual processes and documentation gaps
  • Partner with Talent Development, Total Rewards, and Talent Attraction teams
  • Report to the Senior Manager, People

Requirements

  • Proven track record advising and influencing senior leaders and executives, including persuading leaders who have not framed the problem
  • Performance management and employee relations experience, including difficult cases
  • Experience running performance and compensation cycles end to end for a multi-team group
  • Working understanding of employment legislation and its application to the business
  • Ability to quickly learn employment legislation when expanding into new regions
  • Real AI fluency, including work changed or automated through AI and something built or automated independently
  • Comfort with administrative work, documentation, systems, and detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Resilience in messy situations where answers are not obvious
  • Must be based in Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo
  • Must be able to attend the office at least 1 day per week according to the department schedule
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Successfully complete a background check, including identity verification
