About the role

  • Payroll and benefits specialist processing multi-jurisdiction payroll for Kardium, which develops medical devices for atrial fibrillation treatment. Supporting Dayforce, compliance, benefits, and accounting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll for salaried and hourly populations, including shift-based workforces in Canada, the US, and future international operations
  • Maintain and audit payroll data in Dayforce, including employee profiles, pay types, and shift configurations
  • Investigate and resolve payroll issues related to system configuration and integrations
  • Reconcile payroll and benefits and accurately record information in the general ledger
  • Assign costs to appropriate accounts and cost centres
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and tax requirements in all operating regions
  • Process quarter-end accounting tasks, including accrual journal entries, WCB and EHT filings
  • Assist with payroll-related year-end tasks, including tax forms and reporting
  • Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries
  • Partner with the Talent team to review and validate employee changes impacting payroll
  • Support audits and maintain documentation for compliance purposes
  • Support accounting and office services, compliance reporting, financial reporting, and team projects

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll & benefits experience in a complex environment, including shift rotations and hourly workforce
  • Experience supporting shift-based or manufacturing environments
  • Experience in the medical device manufacturing industry strongly preferred
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage complex, fast-changing payroll
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and prioritize effectively
  • Understanding of payroll & accounting concepts and best business practices
  • Familiarity with payroll processing across multiple jurisdictions, particularly Canada and the US
  • Experience with sophisticated HRIS systems; Dayforce strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations and tax requirements in Canada and the US
  • Ability to deliver accurate, timely work and manage confidential information
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and payroll software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Payroll certification, e.g. PCP
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, HR, or a related field preferred
