About the role

  • Intermediate engineer designing water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure for KWL, an employee-owned consulting firm. Leading technical designs, construction administration, and municipal infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to design and construction of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure
  • Design pump stations, sanitary and storm sewers, forcemains, water mains, reservoirs, and PRV stations
  • Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, including calculations, specifications, and tender packages
  • Serve as Engineer-of-Record on appropriate projects
  • Deliver construction inspection, contract administration, and coordination with contractors and regulatory bodies
  • Conduct infrastructure condition assessments and technical investigations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects with environmental, geotechnical, and permitting constraints
  • Work with CAD team members on design drawing development
  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project documentation
  • Interface with clients and stakeholders through planning, design, and construction phases
  • Mentor junior team members and support quality control throughout project delivery

Requirements

  • +5 years of related work experience after graduation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada
  • Experience in water/wastewater infrastructure design, including pump stations, forcemains, water systems, or municipal facilities
  • Experience preparing drawings, technical specifications, and construction contracts
  • Construction experience, including serving as Contract Administrator and/or Engineer-of-Record
  • Strong technical writing, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Previous municipal infrastructure design experience is required
  • Previous project management and project coordination experience is required
  • Experience in consulting engineering and/or interest in developing a consulting engineering career in municipal design
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing is mandatory
  • Physically able to conduct field visits, handle and operate equipment, travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air, or foot, and conduct outdoor site visits in all weather conditions on uneven/varying terrain
