About the role
- Winter highway operator maintaining Ontario roads for Ledcor, an infrastructure construction and maintenance company. Operating snowplows and heavy equipment while performing seasonal highway repairs.
Responsibilities
- Operate snowplows, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
- Maintain Ontario Provincial Highways year-round
- Assist with labourer duties including pothole repair, guardrail repair, bridge and signage cleaning, and hazard remediation
- Work winter and seasonal maintenance from October 1 to April 30
- Work shifts of 5 consecutive days followed by 2 days off or 6 consecutive days followed by 1 day off
- Work daily shifts lasting 8 to 12 hours, depending on shop
- Respond to varying weather patterns and perform on-call and night-shift work
- Contribute to keeping Ontario highways safe for local communities
Requirements
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 lbs. on a regular basis, bending, kneeling, crouching etc.
- Valid AZ or DZ driver’s license with air endorsement
- Provide a copy of a 3-year commercial driver’s abstract
- Previous experience operating a snow plow truck and/or wheel loader is a strong asset
- Local applicants will be given preference due to the location of the work
- Ability to work shift work, on-call, and night shifts
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
