About the role

  • Associate Machine Learning Engineer developing and deploying LLM and Agentic AI solutions for Manulife’s global financial services operations. Building data pipelines, APIs, and responsible AI systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI solutions for global operations
  • Leverage and integrate large language models (LLMs) and Agentic AI to solve business problems
  • Gather requirements with business stakeholders and integrate AI solutions with existing systems
  • Design and collaborate with data engineers on content extraction and chunk/loading to vector stores
  • Establish high-quality data pipelines for AI applications
  • Assess and optimize AI models and systems for performance, accuracy, and reliability
  • Apply responsible AI practices and rigorous testing methodologies
  • Research and incorporate emerging AI technologies and methodologies
  • Learn from senior engineers and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Implement efficient human feedback loops to refine AI actioning solutions
  • Report to the Senior Director

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in Machine Learning engineering
  • Proven track record of successfully building and deploying AI solutions
  • Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, or OpenAI SDK
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent technical experience is also considered
  • Strong prompt engineering and indexing/retrieval techniques skills
  • Experience developing production-grade AI code
  • Experience building APIs with best practices and integrating with UI
  • Experience with distributed computing frameworks and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Foundational knowledge of machine learning algorithms
  • Experience applying pre-built models
  • Understanding of data engineering principles, data pipelines, and ETL processes
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
