Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end expense FP&A agenda for the Canada Segment, including forecasting, planning, risks and opportunities, management reporting, and executive presentations
Serve as the primary finance business partner to Canada Business Unit leaders across Retail Insurance, Group Benefits, Affinity, Bank, Wealth, and other segment functions
Provide financial guidance, insights, and recommendations for strategic, operational, and investment decisions
Improve forecast accuracy, transparency, and predictability through financial analysis, business engagement, and disciplined planning
Identify productivity opportunities, optimize expense performance, and support achievement of financial targets
Support executive discussions on growth initiatives, business cases, operating expense management, workforce planning, and investment prioritization
Collaborate with Group Finance, Global Functions Finance, and other partners on planning and reporting
Provide financial oversight and challenge across Canada Segment operating expenses
Lead expense reviews, variance analysis, and root-cause assessments
Support governance and approval processes for significant investments, productivity initiatives, organizational changes, and business cases
Ensure expenditures comply with enterprise financial policies, governance standards, and control requirements
Deliver actionable insights for performance discussions and leadership decisions
Advance FP&A through process simplification, automation, enhanced analytics, and self-service reporting
Improve planning, forecasting, and management reporting efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness
Support Finance Transformation initiatives and implement FP&A best practices
Contribute to the Expense FP&A operating model and execution excellence across Finance
Advise senior Finance leaders on expense management, forecasting methodologies, and performance improvement
Foster collaboration across Segment Finance, Corporate Functions, and Enterprise FP&A teams
Lead, coach, and develop FP&A professionals
Build organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, and continuous learning
Establish accountability while supporting employee engagement, growth, and career progression
Requirements
10+ years of progressive Finance experience with deep expertise in FP&A, business partnering, and executive stakeholder management
Experience supporting large business units, segments, or P&L organizations within financial services or similarly complex environments
Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive business decisions through financial insights and trusted advisory relationships
Demonstrated experience leading forecasting, planning, expense management, and performance reporting processes
Strong track record of driving process improvement, transformation, and operational excellence initiatives
Experience managing and developing high-performing teams
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
Strategic mindset connecting financial performance, business strategy, growth objectives, and expense management
Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills with senior executives and business leaders
Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights
Excellent communication, executive presentation, and financial storytelling capabilities
Ability to balance long-term strategic priorities with short-term operational execution
High degree of judgment, accountability, and governance orientation
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and stakeholder requirements
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset; if the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required
CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent professional designation preferred
