About the role

  • Engineering Manager leading full-stack engineering teams at Manulife, a global financial services provider. Guiding technical delivery, architecture, cloud development, and team growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of full-stack engineers
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, respectful, innovative, and accountable team environment
  • Provide feedback, development planning, and career progression support
  • Contribute to inclusive hiring and talent development
  • Provide technical leadership across design, development, testing, deployment, and support
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, technical design reviews, and solution quality
  • Guide development of scalable, resilient, and maintainable full-stack, cloud-enabled applications
  • Evaluate technical trade-offs, risks, and options
  • Ensure alignment with architecture, security, and compliance standards
  • Lead delivery of complex initiatives aligned with customer, business, and technology objectives
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Operations teams
  • Support Agile practices and improve planning, predictability, and delivery outcomes
  • Use delivery and engineering metrics to improve effectiveness, quality, and throughput
  • Oversee application health, lifecycle management, and production support
  • Promote reliability, monitoring, operational excellence, and issue resolution

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, including designing and delivering enterprise applications
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of Java or Kotlin (Spring Boot), Python, C#/.NET, TypeScript, React, or Node.js
  • Experience with SDLC tools such as GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Maven, Snyk, SonarQube, or similar platforms
