FP&A Manager guiding budgeting, KPI reporting, and cost control for Champion Petfoods’ premium pet food brands. Supporting corporate financial planning across hybrid offices in Canada and the United States.
Responsibilities
Prepare financial analysis, business reporting, and operational financial reporting.
Support the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis with annual budgets, latest estimate updates, and strategic growth plans.
Analyze financial performance against KPIs and provide actionable recommendations.
Facilitate corporate reporting and KPI monitoring.
Report and analyze financial statements and corporate results, including sales volume, revenue, COGS, ingredient, packaging, manufacturing, SGA, and related costs.
Facilitate monthly business reviews and report financial performance to the executive team and parent company.
Prepare monthly financial and operational KPI reports and management report packages.
Partner with accounting to enhance ERP data capture and FP&A reporting.
Identify business reporting needs and facilitate report development with IT.
Provide ad hoc management analysis, what-if analysis, scenario planning, and business case reviews.
Coordinate with global regions on regional reporting and KPI reviews.
Build the detailed annual budget and long-term financial strategic growth plan.
Manage financial planning software and act as the corporate expert for related questions.
Serve as the primary FP&A contact for corporate parent enquiries and ensure submissions align with parent guidelines.
Assess risks and opportunities and help manage their impact on financial performance.
Own SGA reporting and corporate management of SGA spending.
Develop and propose cost-saving initiatives and corporate benchmarking.
Meet with stakeholders to manage spending and identify opportunities.
Mentor, develop, and manage junior staff as required.
Perform other assigned tasks.
Requirements
Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
CPA designation preferred.
Minimum five years’ experience in a finance role.
Minimum two years’ experience within the consumer-packaged goods industry preferred.
Very strong financial writing skills; ability to tell the story around the numbers.
Experience with ERP systems, including reporting tools.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
Excellent project managerial and interpersonal skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Ability to facilitate and coordinate multiple deadlines, create cohesive teams, and respond quickly to management requests.
Proven ability to perform under pressure and stress and adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements.
Willingness to work extended days and weekends as necessary.
Able and interested to work in a 12-month contract role.
