About the role

  • Intermediate Civil Engineer designing municipal infrastructure, utilities, roads, bridges, and water systems for McElhanney. Coordinating projects and mentoring technical staff across British Columbia offices.

Responsibilities

  • Produce engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for municipal utilities, roadworks, bridges and culverts, water and wastewater systems, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Manage and coordinate projects from planning through completion, including client communication, budgeting, scheduling, and project coordination
  • Develop engineering designs, plans, and project documentation from preliminary concepts and sketches using Civil 3D and other technical software
  • Coordinate preparation of approval documents, construction cost estimates, tender documents, contracts, and project deliverables
  • Assist with construction management and contract administration, including field reviews and safety leadership visits
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve schedules, budgets, and quality control standards
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Report to the Prince George office while potentially being based at any McElhanney office within British Columbia

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • 8+ years of relevant civil design experience
  • Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PEng) with EGBC or eligibility for registration in British Columbia
  • Experience coordinating and delivering engineering projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers, EITs, or technical staff is considered an asset
  • Strong client relationship, communication, and project coordination skills
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and related engineering software
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Safety-sensitive position
