About the role
- Intermediate Civil Engineer designing municipal and infrastructure projects for McElhanney. Coordinating delivery, construction administration, and multidisciplinary engineering teams across British Columbia.
Responsibilities
- Produce engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for municipal utilities, roadworks, bridges and culverts, water and wastewater systems, and infrastructure upgrades
- Manage and coordinate projects from planning through completion, including client communication, budgeting, scheduling, and project coordination
- Develop engineering designs, plans, and project documentation from preliminary concepts and sketches using Civil 3D and other technical software
- Coordinate and assist with approval documents, construction cost estimates, tender documents, contracts, and project deliverables
- Assist with construction management and contract administration, including field reviews and safety leadership visits
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and technical staff
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve schedules, budgets, and quality control standards
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- 8+ years of relevant civil design experience
- Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PEng) with EGBC or eligibility for registration in British Columbia
- Experience coordinating and delivering engineering projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and client communication
- Experience mentoring junior engineers, EITs, or technical staff is considered an asset
- Strong client relationship, communication, and project coordination skills
- Proficiency with Civil 3D and related engineering software
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team
