About the role

  • Financial Services Associate advising Meridian Credit Union members on banking, credit, and investments. Managing portfolios, growing relationships, and driving sales through Contact Centre channels.

Responsibilities

  • Understand Members’ financial needs and provide appropriate advice and recommendations
  • Offer complex credit and investment advice
  • Identify and promote Meridian products and services
  • Meet and exceed individual and team business goals
  • Manage Member portfolios and build relationships
  • Align financial strategies with Wealth, Small Business, and Mobile Mortgage Specialist partners
  • Engage in revenue-generating and sales activities
  • Open new Member accounts
  • Provide credit recommendations or approvals within limits using credit interviewing and underwriting skills
  • Build external centres of influence
  • Use Meridian tools to identify opportunities and deepen Member relationships
  • Host virtual meetings and communicate with Members
  • Generate referrals to Retail Wealth, Small Business, and Commercial partners
  • Resolve issues at first point of contact and refer complex concerns
  • Process daily work in accordance with compliance, audit, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain Member privacy and confidentiality
  • Participate in Contact Centre planning, strategy, and business plans
  • Support the Digital Ambassador Program and Omni Channel integration
  • Participate in community engagement activities and events
  • Promote Meridian Credit Union and support local community organizations

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or at least 3 years of equivalent work experience in a financial services sales environment
  • Proven track record in sales
  • Minimum MFDA licensing required
  • Strong business acumen and financial industry knowledge
  • Excellent organizational and Member service skills
  • Strong knowledge of computer systems
  • Availability for scheduled hours including evenings and weekends
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to mitigate and resolve Member concerns
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to grasp concepts and processes quickly
  • Ability to partner and influence
  • Ability to use virtual technology platforms
  • Ability to collaborate with leadership on strategic plans and recommendations
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft Copilot considered an asset
  • Critical thinking, data-driven decision-making, curiosity, and flexibility
