About the role

  • Supplier Quality Engineer improving supplier quality, audits, and performance for MHI Canada Aerospace’s aircraft structures and assemblies. Driving corrective actions and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead implementation of the supplier development program to achieve and sustain high performance
  • Maintain expert knowledge to develop continuous improvement techniques and achieve operational excellence supporting Supply Chain activities
  • Develop and implement KPIs supporting business targets and appropriate reporting metrics
  • Assist suppliers with project management activities to meet RCCA deadlines and implement preventative actions
  • Conduct risk analysis of critical parts to minimize supply interruptions
  • Create and manage product and process audits to prevent supplier manufacturing-process failures and product nonconformity
  • Manage the interface with Engineering to sponsor supplier-initiated design changes, improve product yield and performance, and minimize risk
  • Evaluate and approve new suppliers based on third-party Quality System certifications and audit results
  • Support supplier audit plans, including scheduling and conducting audits, with cross-functional teams
  • Ensure supplier non-conformances are identified and contained, and document supplier-performance history
  • Evaluate supplier delivery and quality performance and implement appropriate supplier controls
  • Maintain the approved supplier list and supplier files and records
  • Report to the Supervisor – Supplier Quality

Requirements

  • Flexibility to work shifts to accommodate the production schedule
  • Expert knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficient knowledge of APQP systems
  • Strong understanding of detail and assembly drawings, with exposure to GD&T
  • Proficiency with technical documentation comprehension
  • Demonstrated proficiency with quality inspection activities and inspection tools
  • Ability to lead by example and work within a multifunctional team
  • Working knowledge of lean implementation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with internal and external customers
  • Advanced MS Office application skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Current work authorization for Canada required
  • Criminal background check required for candidates aged 18 and over
  • 3–5 years’ experience in developing and sourcing products from domestic and international suppliers
  • Experience in process capability improvement and structured problem solving in machining preferred
  • Experience in aerospace quality preferred
  • Previous experience with supplier management and project management is an asset
  • Engineering degree or related discipline preferred
