About the role
- Structural Engineer designing sustainable panelized building systems for Nexii. Leading structural analysis, product development, documentation, and project delivery from concept through on-site assembly.
Responsibilities
- Guide the organization in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality project and product designs
- Participate in all stages of the project life cycle, from conceptual design and structural analysis through drawing production, manufacturing, and final on-site assembly
- Develop standards, design tools, and technical specifications for current and future Nexii products
- Communicate engineering concepts and designs to diverse technical audiences internally and externally
- Identify and resolve technical problems, troubleshoot issues, and find practical solutions
- Review and support production of drawings and project documentation for fabrication, permit submission, third-party review, and construction
- Provide structural engineering services as Structural Engineer of Record and coordinate with third-party engineering consultants
- Review and prepare evaluation reports, presentations, construction documents, proposals, and other technical documentation
- Support manufacturing with plant and process improvements
- Support sales and marketing with guidelines, product specifications, and technical support during proposal, estimation, and contract processes
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
- Oversee technical design, development, and testing of Nexii products and support future product development decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil/Structural Engineering
- Registered as a P.Eng. with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or eligible through transfer from another Canadian jurisdiction
- Minimum 7-10 years of structural building design experience
- Knowledge of Canadian building codes and material standards; additional familiarity with US codes and standards is an asset
- Strong technical experience with steel, concrete, and wood construction; multiple materials are an asset
- Strong structural connection design and detailing experience
- Experience with pre-fabricated and/or panelized building systems is considered an asset
- Demonstrated project and leadership experience
- Ability to communicate complex ideas, concepts or structural designs through drawings, sketches, reports, instructions, calculations, models, or other appropriate methods
- Experience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RISA, or equivalent
- Experience with MathCAD, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and/or other drafting and modelling software is considered an asset
- Good interpersonal, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Agility in working both independently and within teams
- Strong creative and technical skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and coordinate with multiple disciplines
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, while maintaining high quality standards
- Positive attitude, ability to adapt to change, and superior sense of accountability and responsibility over assigned objectives, outcomes and deadlines
