Optical network support intern at Nokia, a global connectivity company. Assisting server deployments, testbeds, proof-of-concept demos, and network troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
Provide front-line support for Nokia's Fiber Transmission Network Management platform serving telecom carriers and MSO high-speed transport infrastructure
Work directly with customers and perform investigative work using Nokia's labs and operational and functional knowledge base
Contribute to server and virtual machine deployments
Design and set up testbeds using simulators and real equipment
Prepare demos and proof-of-concept configurations
Gain exposure to end-to-end optical networking architectures
Learn network operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning
Requirements
Currently a candidate for a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field with an accredited school in Canada
Knowledge of Server Hardware, HP Unix, and Red Hat Linux
Knowledge of Virtual Machines
Good communication skills and a desire to learn
General knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Bash/Shell, etc. (nice to have)
General knowledge of Optical and IP networking (nice to have)
Ability to test, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical issues (nice to have)
Position is intended for students seeking an internship opportunity and is not a Co-op position
Part-time schedule of 10 hours per week
