About the role

  • Senior Director shaping global communications for Nutrition International, a global nutrition organization. Leading brand, media, reputation, fundraising communications and an international matrixed team.

Responsibilities

  • Set Nutrition International's global communications strategy and define its narrative across global, regional and country communications
  • Build thought leadership across key portfolios and the organization
  • Strengthen the global brand proposition, tone, visual identity, thought leadership and reputation
  • Lead international and Canadian media relations and public relations strategy
  • Secure sustained earned media and position the CEO and senior leaders as credible public voices
  • Work with the Partnerships and Growth team across government, business, philanthropy, academia and media
  • Advise senior leaders during sensitive moments, manage reputational risk and respond to emergencies and global events
  • Lead communications across media, digital, social, storytelling and content to drive awareness, trust, influence and fundraising
  • Counsel the CEO and Executive Management Committee and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead, develop and inspire the global communications team within a complex, matrixed international structure
  • Manage headquarters direct reports and matrixed alignment with regional and country communications staff

Requirements

  • University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations or a related field
  • 12+ years of progressively senior communications experience
  • Experience leading a communications function and team at a global or national level
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills
  • Strong understanding and experience using multimedia tools for impactful stories
  • Established network of media contacts and demonstrated ability to secure earned media in Canada and internationally
  • Experience in international development, humanitarian, public health or mission-driven environments
  • Current understanding of sector shifts and how to position Nutrition International within them
  • Familiarity with the Government of Canada and the wider Canadian landscape strongly preferred
  • Ability to operate across business, philanthropy, high-net-worth individuals and academia
  • Ability to interface credibly with executives and build trusted relationships quickly
  • Fluency in English is essential
  • Proficiency in French is an asset
  • Current legal entitlement to work in Canada
  • Satisfactory screening and reference checks, including safeguarding verifications
