About the role
- Financial analyst supporting accounting, reporting, financial systems, budgeting, and forecasting at Canada’s financial regulator OSFI. Preparing reports, analyzing performance, and advising management.
Responsibilities
- Support financial accounting, reporting, and financial systems activities to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information
- Prepare and analyze financial reports
- Perform reconciliations and support period-end processes
- Contribute to compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Provide advice on financial reporting and systems
- Develop reporting tools and support system enhancements and process improvements
- Provide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and advisory services
- Monitor financial performance and analyze variances
- Prepare financial reports and develop recommendations for managers and senior leaders
- Report to the Manager, Financial Accounting and External Reporting, or the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis
Requirements
- Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, economics, or another relevant field
- Relevant recognized professional designation
- Recent experience, gained within approximately the last five years, in financial analysis, financial reporting, corporate accounting, financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, and/or financial systems support
- Significant experience normally associated with four years of duties in relevant financial areas
- Recent and significant experience providing financial advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and stakeholders
- Recent and significant experience using financial management systems such as SAP, Workday, or similar ERP systems
- Experience using advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and data analysis tools, to analyze and manipulate financial data
- Knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, and standards, including Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)
- Knowledge of financial reporting requirements and financial information used to support management decision-making
- Knowledge of financial accounting or financial management principles, practices, and controls, including financial analysis
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to demonstrate integrity
- Ability to communicate financial information to audiences with varying degrees of financial expertise
- Ability to interpret financial information and make recommendations

- Ability and willingness to work overtime
- Must be able to work remotely from home within Canada with Internet access
- English essential or bilingual imperative (CBC/CBC), depending on position
