About the role

Part-time RPN providing resident nursing care at Extendicare’s Tendercare retirement home in Scarborough. Assessing conditions, managing care plans, and implementing physicians’ orders.

Responsibilities

Enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily according to governing-body standards, internal policies, and standards of care
Ensure care follows nursing standards, physicians’ orders, administrative policies, and required nursing techniques
Observe, report, and record residents’/patients’ vital signs, symptoms, and conditions
Assist in assessing patients/residents and develop, implement, review, and evaluate care plans
Monitor health, note changes in condition, assess need for doctor referrals, and process and implement physicians’ orders

Appropriate current certificate of competence from the Approved Institutions for the province
Registration or eligible for registration with the Approved Institutions for the province
Previous managerial experience in long-term care or community homecare preferred
Experience dealing with the cognitively impaired
Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices
Knowledge in Infection Control Practices
Demonstrated commitment to working with seniors
Ability to present information clearly and effectively verbally and in writing
Active listening and friendly demeanour
Organizational, planning, time management and multi-tasking skills
Access to reliable vehicle in community home care is required
