About the role

  • Quantum Engineer improving T-centre qubit quality and scalability at Photonic, a quantum computing company. Collaborating across nanofabrication, hardware, software, and modelling teams.

Responsibilities

  • Drive T centre qubits to the highest possible quality at scale
  • Design and execute rapid technical projects involving complex, novel, multivariate problems
  • Guide feedback loops with nanofabrication, hardware, software, and modelling teams
  • Collect high-quality data efficiently to answer fundamental technical questions and improve performance metrics
  • Create multiple layers of backup plans and alternative paths to success
  • Synthesize data and models into actionable system requirements
  • Collaborate with product engineering teams spanning device physics, classical computer architecture, and compilers
  • Make technical decisions quickly while maintaining broader system context
  • Generate system requirements for execution by other teams
  • Include a cover letter with the resume in one file

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Experimental Quantum Information, Physics, Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in academia or industry
  • Exceptional experimental & technical instincts and judgement
  • Deep familiarity with one or more quantum computing platforms (e.g. ion traps, neutral atoms, defect centres, solid-state spins, superconducting qubits)
  • Experience driving multi-qubit systems at high fidelity
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations in rapidly changing R&D environment
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve engineering and physics problems
  • Outstanding teamwork skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in the Greater Vancouver Area
  • Eligible for work permit sponsorship and relocation support
