Construction equipment technician repairing and maintaining John Deere and competitive compact machinery. Supporting Ontario builders, landscapers, and contractors through diagnostics, service, and customer guidance.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, assemble/disassemble, and maintain compact construction equipment from John Deere and competitive brands
Use diagnostic tools and John Deere’s Service Advisor system to perform accurate evaluations and document service work
Order required parts for service jobs and coordinate with the parts department as needed
Follow all company and regulatory safety procedures during service assignments
Maintain current technical knowledge through ongoing training, including John Deere University (JDU) programs
Review and explain service work and maintenance recommendations with the service office and occasionally with customers
Participate in product clinics or other customer-facing service events as required
Operate and test equipment for diagnostic purposes as part of repair workflows
Requirements
2+ years of experience performing equipment repairs and maintenance
421A or 425A License is required
Advanced knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems used in construction and compact equipment
Proficient in using computer systems for diagnostics and work order documentation
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical manuals and repair procedures
Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
Experience operating construction equipment during diagnostics and post-repair testing
Must have a valid driver’s license and provide a clean driver’s abstract
Experience with construction equipment (e.g. skid steers, compact track loaders, mini excavators) is an asset
Completion of a recognized Equipment Technician program or equivalent apprenticeship
Ongoing participation in manufacturer-provided training (e.g. John Deere University) is expected
Ability to lift and carry at least 75lbs repeatedly
Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment including bending, climbing, and working in varied weather conditions
Able to operate large machinery for testing and diagnostics
