About the role

  • Senior editor leading mortgage and real estate content for Ratehub, a Canadian fintech helping consumers make better financial choices. Developing editorial strategy, expert analysis, and media-facing content.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Ratehub’s primary subject matter expert for mortgages and real estate
  • Represent the brand in media opportunities and provide expert commentary, data points, and insights
  • Participate in video content and media interviews
  • Produce original content across media contributions, landing pages, blog posts, newsletters, videos, and social media
  • Develop timely analysis reflecting market conditions, rate movements, and consumer needs
  • Liaise with the mortgage brokerage team on rate trends, lender strategy, and market shifts
  • Maintain and refresh blogs, FAQs, landing pages, and other existing content
  • Apply SEO and GEO best practices, especially to landing pages and high-traffic pages
  • Establish and uphold editorial voice, style standards, policies, workflows, and governance frameworks
  • Own the editorial and social media calendar
  • Review, edit, and approve work from writers, freelancers, and subject matter experts
  • Maintain expertise in Canadian personal finance for editorial oversight
  • Own content QA, including fact-checking, link auditing, structural reviews, and scheduled refreshes
  • Use organic traffic, keyword rankings, GEO metrics, engagement, and conversion data to set editorial priorities
  • Brief, onboard, and manage freelance contributors
  • Collaborate with product, design, marketing, and data teams
  • Lead sponsored content production and coordinate between partnership and content teams

Requirements

  • 6–10 years of editorial experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in personal finance content; mortgage or real estate focus strongly preferred
  • Experience in digital-first media, fintech, financial services, or high-volume content operations
  • Post-secondary education in journalism, communications, English, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Familiarity with Canadian mortgage products, rate structures, lending regulations, and real estate
  • Ability to manage high volumes of articles, landing pages, newsletters, social content, and video scripts
  • Strong command of Canadian AP or CP style and experience maintaining in-house style guides
  • Working knowledge of SEO, keyword research, on-page optimization, internal linking, and content structuring
  • Familiarity with GEO and AI-powered search
  • Experience using Google Search Console, Google Analytics, Semrush, PEEC, or similar platforms
  • Ability to interpret content performance data
  • Experience mentoring content writers or strategists
  • Experience briefing and managing freelance contributors
  • Cross-functional collaboration with marketing, product, and analytics teams
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience as a brand spokesperson or subject matter expert in media contexts
  • CMS proficiency, such as WordPress
  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana or Notion
  • Experience with AI writing and editing tools and responsible editorial use
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
