Director of Data Security Technology Operations at RBC, responsible for operational excellence and support of data security infrastructure. Leading a distributed team to maintain data protection capabilities.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed team of data security technology specialists responsible for operating and maintaining endpoint and network-based security tooling
Oversee the troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of on-premises and cloud-based data security technologies
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation that enable consistent, reliable service delivery across all systems
Manage audit requests and compliance inquiries related to data security infrastructure, working closely with audit and compliance teams
Ensure operational systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements, maintaining appropriate control documentation and evidence
Drive operational improvements and process optimization across the technology stack
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for data security systems
Manage vendor relationships and contracts for data security technology platforms, including performance monitoring and SLA management
Support business units with application onboarding to data security technologies, providing guidance on policy configuration, integration requirements, and compliance alignment
Evaluate, recommend, and process exceptions to data security policies, working with stakeholders to balance security requirements with business needs
Serve as the primary operational liaison between business units and the data security technology team, ensuring smooth communication and issue resolution
Partner with security architects, compliance, and IT leadership to align operational capabilities with organizational requirements
Support incident response and escalation processes for data security systems
Recommend technology upgrades, vendor management, and infrastructure improvements based on operational experience
Requirements
5+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, technical support, or systems administration
Proven leadership experience managing technical teams, preferably in a global or distributed environment
Demonstrated expertise in supporting and maintaining enterprise security technologies
Strong understanding of endpoint and network security tools and platforms
Experience developing operational procedures, documentation, and control frameworks
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication skills for working across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Cybersecurity background or certifications (CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+)
Experience with data loss prevention (DLP), data security, or insider threat platforms
Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
Experience managing SaaS and on-premises infrastructure
Background in audit and compliance support
Experience managing vendor relationships and SaaS contracts
