About the role

  • Peel Region, delivering municipal services, seeks a hydraulic modeling advisor for water distribution planning. Managing InfoWater Pro analyses, infrastructure risk, and capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance to management and staff on infrastructure planning, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and risk assessment of Peel’s water distribution system
  • Manage and administer Peel’s InfoWater Pro hydraulic modeling application
  • Develop, calibrate, and run complex water distribution system modeling scenarios for planned and unplanned infrastructure analysis
  • Prepare specialized reports and present findings to senior management, staff, Council members, and the public
  • Evaluate complex technical information and formulate scenarios, options, and solutions for capital infrastructure initiatives
  • Manage hydraulic modeling programs, data structures, sources, and interdependencies
  • Develop and manage model quality-control measures and maintain model accuracy and integrity
  • Liaise with technical records management sections regarding integrated infrastructure information systems
  • Review model capabilities for water age, pressure, fire flow, storage turnover, pumping, capacity, shutdowns, and risk assessment
  • Provide subject matter expertise for Environmental Assessments, Master Plans, and specialized studies
  • Advise internal Public Works departments during critical events and emergencies
  • Support emergency shutdown analysis, operational contingency planning, and temporary servicing reviews
  • Advise on technical submissions for complex or sensitive urban development applications
  • Provide technical analysis for Class EA, Capital Works, Local Improvement projects, and program planning studies

Requirements

  • Satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station
  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field
  • Five years of related experience
  • Specialized expertise in hydraulic modeling and system analysis
  • Strong technical skills using GIS applications such as GeoMedia and ArcGIS
  • Hands-on experience with water hydraulic modeling tools, model data management, GIS, SCADA, and related operational datasets
  • Hands-on experience with InfoWater Pro or other water distribution hydraulic modeling platforms
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Access and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience delivering presentations and facilitating sessions
  • Ability to work with varied internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Off-site work location must be within Ontario
  • Post-graduate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field is an asset
  • P.Eng. designation with the Professional Engineers of Ontario is an asset
  • Project management or relevant professional certification is an asset
  • Experience with InfoWater Pro is an asset
  • Experience with InfoWorks ICM or related modeling platforms is a plus
