About the role

  • Project Manager delivering IT solutions for Peel Region’s public services. Managing budgets, vendors, risks, architecture, and project teams across agile and waterfall initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage execution of IT projects to ensure deliverables meet business requirements
  • Ensure project delivery phases meet IT and corporate standards, timeframes, and budget requirements
  • Coordinate tenders, contracts, project plans, work schedules, priorities, budgets, and resource requirements
  • Determine priorities and resource allocation
  • Develop Project Charters and Business Cases with IT business areas and subject matter experts
  • Ensure application, information, system, technology, and security architectures meet standards
  • Design project strategies and create, execute, and control project plans
  • Manage change control processes and administer project budgets
  • Report regularly to senior management, IT Strategic Client Managers, Project Sponsors, Senior Project Managers, Steering Committees, Regional Committees, and stakeholders
  • Motivate project teams and ensure completeness of project deliverables
  • Design and implement communications management plans
  • Manage risks and coordinate training plans
  • Manage, resolve, or escalate project issues
  • Close projects according to corporate standards
  • Develop and deliver presentations to audiences at different organizational levels
  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical or professional advice as appropriate

Requirements

  • University or college degree or diploma in IT, computer science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of three years of prior experience managing IT projects
  • Experience with agile project management
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Strong skills using project management software such as Microsoft Project
  • Ability to manage small to medium well-defined projects and develop project budgets
  • Understanding of IT processes and methods, including SDLC, COBIT, and ITIL
  • Excellent communication skills for working with clients, technical teams, management, and executive-level staff
  • Understanding of financial management, capital budgeting, business planning, purchasing, and contract management processes
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint) integrations, data migration, digital transformation projects, and Salesforce is nice to have
  • Scrum Master experience is nice to have
  • PMP designation is nice to have
  • Off-site work location must be within Ontario
