About the role
- Engineering Manager leading Accounts engineering at Relay, a digital banking platform for small businesses. Scaling teams, delivery processes, and intelligent multi-account experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of engineering initiatives, ensuring quality standards, timelines, and business goals are met
- Drive clarity in team priorities and execution
- Establish and maintain engineering processes including sprint planning, code reviews, and technical design reviews
- Refine team rituals to enable high-quality, predictable delivery
- Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute technical vision
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with user needs and business objectives
- Build and grow a high-performing engineering team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management
- Foster a collaborative, feedback-driven environment supporting continuous learning and professional development
- Encourage mentorship and knowledge sharing
- Help develop Relay’s multi-account structure and intuitive account and automated transfer experiences for small-business customers
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-stack software development experience
- 1–3 years in a people management role
- Experience ideally within a high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech environment
- Strong technical foundation and proven track record of shipping high-quality products
- Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React, and AWS is a plus
- Ability to build and scale engineering teams
- Ability to grow and develop people
- Clear and effective communication
- Pragmatic decision-making and customer-centric mindset
- Ability to navigate tradeoffs around scope, technical debt, and timelines
- Creative and resourceful approach to solving complex problems
- Willingness to embrace experimentation and AI
- Ability to thrive in cross-functional environments

- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Able to join the Toronto office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
