About the role

  • Engineering Manager leading Accounts engineering at Relay, a digital banking platform for small businesses. Scaling teams, delivery processes, and intelligent multi-account experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and delivery of engineering initiatives, ensuring quality standards, timelines, and business goals are met
  • Drive clarity in team priorities and execution
  • Establish and maintain engineering processes including sprint planning, code reviews, and technical design reviews
  • Refine team rituals to enable high-quality, predictable delivery
  • Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute technical vision
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with user needs and business objectives
  • Build and grow a high-performing engineering team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management
  • Foster a collaborative, feedback-driven environment supporting continuous learning and professional development
  • Encourage mentorship and knowledge sharing
  • Help develop Relay’s multi-account structure and intuitive account and automated transfer experiences for small-business customers

Requirements

  • 5+ years of full-stack software development experience
  • 1–3 years in a people management role
  • Experience ideally within a high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech environment
  • Strong technical foundation and proven track record of shipping high-quality products
  • Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React, and AWS is a plus
  • Ability to build and scale engineering teams
  • Ability to grow and develop people
  • Clear and effective communication
  • Pragmatic decision-making and customer-centric mindset
  • Ability to navigate tradeoffs around scope, technical debt, and timelines
  • Creative and resourceful approach to solving complex problems
  • Willingness to embrace experimentation and AI
  • Ability to thrive in cross-functional environments
  • Successful background check and employment verification through Certn as a condition of employment
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Able to join the Toronto office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
