About the role
- Structural Engineer designing reinforced-concrete and wind-turbine infrastructure for RRC Power and Energy. Managing structural projects across U.S. and Canadian energy developments.
Responsibilities
- Apply structural engineering principles and project management skills to carry out project tasks from start to finish
- Work with the structural team to complete tasks
- Understand reinforced concrete design drawings and specifications
- Perform quality control checks and answer client RFIs
- Resolve construction issues, especially those involving reinforced concrete
- Learn and follow company design procedures for wind turbine foundations and contribute to improving them
- Serve as engineer of record for structural engineering design projects
- Review or delegate review of project-related design documents, including fabrication shop drawings
- Model structures using finite element modeling for design; training provided as needed
- Review design codes and apply appropriate design standards
- Perform value engineering design analyses
- Complete occasional project site visits to inspect construction quality
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. (or M.E.) in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis
- 3-8 years of structural engineering design and/or project management experience; other experience levels considered for otherwise highly qualified candidates
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) registration in the United States required
- Desire to obtain licensure in additional states, as needed
- Familiarity with structural engineering codes in the United States, particularly reinforced concrete
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead or be part of a project team and communicate directly with clients
- Ability to independently execute project work and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized to manage detailed project information and prioritize tasks
- Interest in using structural design codes including IBC, ACI, ASCE 7, and AISC
- Well versed in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Willingness to travel to project locations for short durations, typically one to two days per trip, around the U.S. at least a few times per year
- Ability to walk on and inspect structural reinforcement
- Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States upon hire
