About the role

  • Data Center Facilities Technician maintaining electrical, mechanical, and life-safety systems. Supporting Salute’s data center clients through maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and outage response.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment operates at peak efficiency
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, report on, and maintain data center white space and IT infrastructure
  • Use event monitoring and management systems to notify and escalate service outages
  • Test and install data center infrastructure equipment and services with colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Ensure operational services meet or exceed customer expectations under SLAs
  • Resolve service-affecting incidents and outages with vendors
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and equipment problems and place service calls when needed
  • Support routers, switches, servers, and other digital infrastructure
  • Perform trouble isolation, resolution, maintenance, and day-to-day operations
  • Manage consolidated event monitoring for site equipment
  • Monitor facility and mission-critical equipment including generators, UPS, thermal management, and electrical infrastructure
  • Stack and rack servers and work with battery/power systems and structured cabling
  • Generate end-user performance reports and stakeholder metrics reports
  • Monitor capacity utilization
  • Manage and monitor physical access to data centers
  • Execute Emergency Operating Procedures when required
  • Train new staff on relevant processes and procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of site facility infrastructure regarding power, thermal management, and associated systems
  • Good observation skills and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and ensuring uptime
  • Ability to work autonomously under the customer's direction on servers, routers, and switches
  • Ability to work competently and calmly under pressure
  • Ability to follow SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to logically analyze, isolate, and resolve site and customer-facing service issues
  • Proficiency in monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Good English communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
  • Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergencies
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity
  • Clear vision, with or without correction, while wearing safety glasses
  • Ability to differentiate color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables
  • Ability to work across varied indoor temperatures and outdoors in extreme weather
  • Ability to work in elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection
  • Valid driver's license for work-related travel, as required
