About the role

  • Christmas Kettle Coordinator overseeing Salvation Army holiday donation sites, workers, volunteers, and donations in Kirkland Lake. Coordinating staffing, schedules, kettle logistics, and secure collections.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee several Christmas Kettle locations within a geographical zone
  • Organize, direct, supervise, support, and assign Christmas Kettle Campaign Workers and volunteers
  • Ensure adequate staffing before and during shifts
  • Attend required training/orientation
  • Support delivery of kettles to zone locations and ensure donations are delivered to a secure location after shifts
  • Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to the supervisor
  • Orient and remind staff and volunteers about proper kettle handling and duties
  • Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
  • Remain at kettles for full shifts until relieved and ensure donation security
  • Respond to donor questions about Salvation Army ministries and programs
  • Promote, coordinate, and oversee campaign worker and volunteer activities
  • Schedule staff and volunteers and respond to emergency absences
  • Participate in recruitment, orientation, and performance management
  • Maintain positive relationships with kettle sites
  • Coordinate daily delivery and pickup of kettles and handle emergency deliveries or pickups
  • Host at a kettle as required to provide coverage for breaks
  • Ensure locations have adequate literature and supplies
  • Record statistical data and prepare weekly timesheets
  • Retrieve equipment and supplies from kettle locations after the campaign
  • Report directly to the Corps Officer and act as workflow coordinator for Christmas Kettle Workers
  • Collect donations and petty cash and keep donations secure

Requirements

  • Some high school coursework; completion of high school is an asset
  • Minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service
  • Money handling experience is an asset
  • Experience in office administration
  • Strong skills and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License
  • Personal vehicle and insurance required
  • Current driver’s abstract satisfactory to The Salvation Army required
  • Ability to lift/move 9 to 12 kgs (20–25 lbs.)
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully
  • Original copy of a Background Check screening required
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose in Canada
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, customer service, listening, problem-solving, analytical, and confidentiality skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and Salvation Army health and safety policies
