About the role
- Heat Treat Operator processing aerospace components at Schaeffler Aerospace Canada. Operating heat-treating and sandblasting equipment while inspecting parts and maintaining production records.
Responsibilities
- Move work within the department using material handling devices between heat treating, tempering, stress relief, annealing and other departmental operations
- Perform scheduled operations according to departmental work instructions
- Perform parts cleaning operations
- Set up and operate sandblasters for pre-treatment operations
- Follow and accurately record data in routers, IMS and other production tracking systems
- Perform routine dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections
- Troubleshoot problems and take corrective action according to standard departmental procedures
- Inspect own work
- Train other operators as needed
- Work in other departments or occasionally set up a machine for others to operate
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S in all areas
- Maintain certification through the company Certified Operator Program
Requirements
- Grade 12 diploma
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to manually and as required use material handling devices
- Ability to work with heat treating, tempering, stress relief and annealing processes
- Ability to perform parts cleaning operations
- Ability to set up and operate sandblasters
- Ability to accurately record data in routers, IMS and other production tracking systems
- Ability to perform dimensional, hardness and ferromat inspections
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and take corrective action according to departmental procedures
- Ability to read and interpret production prints
- Adequate computer skills to access production procedures
- Ability to meet training matrix skill requirements and maintain certification through the company Certified Operator Program
- Required to remove facial hair for fit-testing and production requirements
- Must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment and criminal background check
- Must be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- Pacemakers and insulin pumps cannot enter Heat Treat areas due to magnetic interference
