About the role
- Plating Machine Operator running aerospace component plating and heat-treatment processes at Schaeffler Aerospace Canada. Operating equipment, inspecting parts, troubleshooting processes, and maintaining production quality.
Responsibilities
- Operate ovens
- Build loads according to the load plan
- Perform general housekeeping related to personnel safety in the plating room
- Rack and unrack parts to be plated on the automatic line
- Transition parts from the plating line to hydrogen embrittlement ovens for heat treatment
- Visually assess plated/stripped surfaces to ensure completion of operations
- Assist technicians with ventilation, laboratory, or water treatment systems
- Perform daily/weekly TPM for equipment and chemical systems
- Perform basic problem solving and troubleshoot production/process issues
- Monitor quality and quantity of process output
- Monitor production processes according to maintenance schedules and perform routine maintenance
- Accurately record data in routers, IMS, and other production tracking systems
- Train other operators as needed
- Work in other departments or set up processes for others to operate when required
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S in all areas
Requirements
- Grade 12 diploma
- Mechanical aptitude
- High attention to detail with respect to health and safety, personal behaviour and chemistry in plating room
- Adequate computer skills to access production procedures
- Meet the skill requirements identified in the applicable training matrix and maintain certification through company Certified Operator Program
- Must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment and criminal background check
- Must be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
- Temporary residents/international students require an exemption from the Canadian government to access export-controlled goods
- Ability to work as a full-time employee
